Lembah Harau

Lembah Harau (Harau Valley) is tucked away near Payakumbuh in West Sumatra, one of Indonesia’s most breathtaking natural treasures.

This dramatic valley is framed by towering sandstone cliffs rising 100-500 meters high, their colorful rock faces creating a striking contrast with the lush rice fields below. Recognized as a nature reserve since 1993, the area is home to rich tropical vegetation and wildlife, including long‑tailed macaques and gibbons that roam freely in the surrounding forests.

Often described as the “Yosemite of Indonesia,” Harau Valley offers a serene escape where waterfalls, quiet villages, and echoing canyon walls create an atmosphere of pure tranquility. Whether you come to hike, climb, photograph, or simply breathe in the fresh highland air, Lembah Harau is a place where nature’s beauty feels both intimate and grand.
